Field House Montessori Nursery is situated in bright, spacious premises with a securely fenced garden in a secluded area in Summertown, North Oxford. Access is via Woodstock Road with off-street parking.

The small informal nature of the setting (at most 20 children) is conducive to strong staff-parent interaction. The nursery serves a mixed income, multi-denomination, international community

Staff
The nursery is managed by Mrs. Mogaka-Smith (BA (hons)/Early Years Professional Status-trainee, Mont. Dip) who shares in the teaching duties. The other staff currently consist of another teacher (BA (hons), Cert. (Early Years Practice), Early Years Professional Status/Mont. Cert - trainee), a trainee nursery nurse, a part-time French/Mandarin teacher and, from time to time, a Montessori student or childcare student.

Ethos
Every parent wants the best for their child. Your child's pre-school years are important for later growth and development of your child's potential. We at Field House aim to provide your child with the "right" conditions to encourage their individual talents to blossom to the full. Our desire is that the experience gained in the colourful environment of Field House gives a firm foundation for further education.

Our Approach
In accordance with the Montessori approach, the teacher directs the child towards activities that will fulfil his/her needs. The children are free to choose their own activities and each experience is presented individually to each child. Within small groups, each child is individually helped to fully use and understand specifically designed equipment which develops the senses, aids the teaching of reading, writing and mathematics and introduces art, geography, nature studies and the concept of time. The curriculum also includes music and movement, French/Mandarin, cooking, local nature and interest visits, and familiarization with computers.
